　The image "The Glass Rabbit" Memorial Inscription

　On August 5,  (1945) Showa 20, before the end of the Pacific War, here, the vicinity of Ninomiya station was attacked by several carrier-based planes, P51. Some citizens were killed in the attack, and a 12 year old girl witnessed her father's death. 

　The girl who was in deep grief decided to live strongly so as not to be defeated by her sadness. The war story "The Glass Rabbit", which described her life, not only did it deeply move us Japanese but also taught us a lesson on how terrible a war is. 

　This image was set up by the town's people with  help  both inside and out. This image is to hand down the importance of peace and also to admire the people and their friendship who kindly encouraged the girl. What she holds against her chest is the rabbit made out of glass which she treasured as a keepsake of her father.

　May friendship and peace continue forever.

　「ガラスのうさぎ」像記念碑文

　太平洋戦争終結直前の昭和20年8月5日　ここ（国鉄）二宮駅周辺は艦載機P51の機銃掃射を受け　幾人かの尊い生命がその犠牲となりました
　この時　目の前で父を失った12歳の少女が　その悲しみを乗り越え　けなげに生き抜く姿を描いた戦争体験記「ガラスのうさぎ」は　国民の心に深い感動を呼び起こし　戦争の悲惨さを強く印象づけました
　この像は私たち二宮町民が　平和の尊さを後世に伝えるために　また少女を優しく励ました人たちの友情をたたえるために　多くの方々のご協力をいただき　建てたものです　少女が胸に抱えているのは、父の形見となったガラスのうさぎです

　ここに平和と友情よ永遠に
